December 2018 | Tucson, Arizona

So this was our first christmas together and we were super excited about it! We decided to go up to Mexicali to visit Moni’s family and spend the holidays there. So we took a night flight on the 24th and actually spend Christmas Eve on the plane.
It was two hours behind when we got there, her dad and uncle were already waiting for us at the airport. After that we went to her uncle’s and finally had our Christmas dinner with the whole family.
On Christmas day we got a van, crossed the border and made our way to Tucson. It was our first time in the US together so we were really looking forward to the next days there. We stayed at some friends’s house, it was beautifully decorated and had lots of cactuses.
While there, we visited the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum located just west of Tucson. An awesome place that has a huge desert landscape, wildlife, natural history museum and botanical garden, all in one.
We also went to the legendary frontier town, Tombstone, that was founded in the late 1800s and was the largest productive silver district in Arizona. It’s best known as the site of the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, the most famous shootout in the history of the American Wild West.
Moni fell in love with that place because of it’s cowboy-town feels. The Western town facades, wooden sidewalks, dusty streets, wagon wheels, wood framings, bold signages that announced the trades, the bright Victorian colors and old saloons full of life.
We also visited Salton Sea in California. A landlocked body of water with a high concentration of salts that is situated at one of the lowest points of the country, so its water doesn't flow. This place makes you feel like you're in another planet, there's salt all over the place and nothing more.
Our holidays was pretty much spending our days relaxing at the house, cooking breakfasts, having long conversations with the fam, going out to have dinner, playing board games, watching the stars and driving around Tucson. It was a fun trip with the family.
